About the Speaker:

Kay Sprinkel Grace

Kay Sprinkel Grace is passionate about philanthropy and has devoted the last thirty years to the nonprofit sector, providing seminal thought, habit-breaking strategies, challenges to board and staff, and reengineering the vocabulary of fundraising. Her six books and frequent speaking engagements across the globe reflect her restless quest for an ever-improved capacity of organizations to truly serve their communities. A Stanford graduate (BA, MA), she has built on a career in journalism and education to create a business practice and reputation that draw from the best of both.  She has been recognized by Stanford for her volunteer work with numerous awards, including the highest award for volunteer service, The Gold Spike. In 2013 she was awarded the Henry A. Rosso Medal for lifetime achievement in ethical fundraising from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, and in 2016 she was in the first group of six professionals to be named Distinguished Fellows by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Kay has spoken to countless AFP chapters including Silicon Valley, Wine Country (CA), Greater Los Angeles, Greater Arizona, Mid-America and Topeka. In 2017, she was a featured presenter at the AFP International Conference in San Francisco and at the International Fundraising Congress in The Netherlands.  For three years, she has been a co-creator and facilitator of the Leaders of Tomorrow program in Central and Eastern Europe.  She works regularly with boards and staff to increase the capacity of organizations to fulfill their mission and vision.  Clients include public media (KQED, OPB, KPBS), health (Alameda Health Systems Foundation, Providence Health Systems), arts and culture (Djerassi Resident Artist Program, Smuin Ballet) and others.  She is President of the Board of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale and is a member of the Czech Fundraising Institute Board and the Institute for Nonprofit Management Advisory Board at the University of San Francisco.
