St. Louis National Philanthropy Day

National Philanthropy Day is a special day set aside each year to recognize and pay tribute to those in our region and around the world who have impacted our communities  through their generous contributions of time, talent and treasure.  This year, in light of current events, AFP St. Louis will be holding a virtual celebration on November 19, 2020, during happy hour instead of our usual luncheon event.

In addition to these logistical changes, the AFP St. Louis Board of Directors, upon recommendations from the National Philanthropy Day Planning Committee and the National Philanthropy Day Selection Committee have decided to suspend bestowing awards in our traditional categories. As our community weathers multiple pandemics, our local chapter sees an opportunity to lean into change

This year, we are thrilled to honor this inaugural cohort of 2020 Changemakers:

ArchCity Defenders
Susan E. Block
Gabrielle Cole
Lara Granich
Grace Kyung
St. Louis County Library
St. Louis COVID Mutual Aid
Lourdes Treviño Bailon

These individuals' and organizations' efforts across this year:

  • Stimulate a world of generosity and positive social good
  • Inspire others through their own sense of dedication and higher purpose
  • Develop a culture of philanthropy within our organizations and across our community
  • Demonstrate a commitment to dismantling systemic racism and achieving equity, justice and belonging for all
  • Bring creativity and innovation to fund development + philanthropy
  • Embody a sense of radical collaboration + partnership to achieve the social good
  • Embrace agility to meet the immediate needs of the community as informed by the community

We invite you to celebrate these Changemakers with us at our virtual celebration.  For more information, please click here.
